Who I Am

I am a retired professor of psychology who taught a wide variety of courses: Into Psychology, Social Psychology, Statistics, History of Psychology, Prejudice and Discrimination, Evolutionary Psychology, Psychology of Happiness, Psychology of Beliefs, Human Nature & Violence, Cognitive Psychology. I still occasionally teach — last Spring Prejudice and Discrimination, next Spring The Psychology of Beliefs. I am the author of several books the most recent being, The Psychology of Stereotyping. (Guilford Press, 2004

Why this blog? I have an unhealthy obsession with crazy beliefs – you know, alien abductions, Obama is planning a military coup, men have never landed on the moon. Fortunately or not the present political campaigns and arguments over gay marriage have provided a regular petri dish for breeding  craziness. And so I can’t resist. From time to time I’ll also be expressing opinions commenting on other issues that lie in my sphere of competence.

So give it a try. I’ll be posting every other day or so for the first couple of weeks, so stay tuned.  Comments welcome
